Joff Whitten

General Manager

Joff has extensive experience working within the arts, cultural and heritage sector leading programmes in organisations of all shapes and sizes. Before joining Gecko in January 2018 hewas the Bridge Senior Manager for Norfolk and Suffolk, hosted by the Norfolk and Norwich Festival. The Bridge is an Arts Council and Department for Education funded initiative whose mission is to connect children and young people with great arts and culture in their region, especially those living in challenging circumstances.

Earlier in his career Joff led the learning programme at the Courtauld Gallery in London, engaging broad and diverse audiences with art history in a world class institution. Whilst at the Courtauld, Joff sat on the governing board as an elected staff member. Prior to the Courtauld, Joff delivered the learning programme at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, set into 500 glorious acres of the Bretton Hall estate, located near Wakefield. He has also worked for a touring orchestra performing at stately homes across the country.

He is currently a committee member for the East of England Heritage Lottery Fund, and has also recently been appointed as a director of a multi-academy trust in Cambridge; a group of 7 schools intent on embedding inspiration and creativity throughout their learning offer.

Joff is trained as an artist and a musician, and when he gets time enjoys making things. He is the father of two wonderful little girls, a proud husband to an amazing woman and the voice of authority in the life of their dog.
