Welcome to Gecko:engage

Gecko:engage is where connection, creativity and embodied learning come alive.

Grounded in Gecko’s powerful physical theatre practice, it invites students, artists, teachers and communities into bold, imaginative spaces where stories are felt, not just told.

Drawing on Gecko’s internationally acclaimed physical theatre practice, it invites students, teachers, artists, and communities into a shared journey of imagination, expression, and transformation.

To engage with Gecko is to connect deeply — with yourself, with others, and with the world around you. Through breath, movement, gesture, and story, we explore what it means to be human. Serious play becomes a tool for empathy, curiosity, and bold creative discovery.

Our three engagement strands:

  • Schools

  • Artists

  • Communities

“I felt supported, heard, challenged, pushed, seen, accepted. It brought me so much joy and rejuvenation - like I’ve re-discovered my passion.”

Our Vision

We believe creativity has the power to heal, to connect, and to drive social change.

Our work brings people together across generations, backgrounds, and experiences, nurturing empathy and celebrating the full richness of human identity.

Whether you’re devising in the classroom, growing your artistic practice or co-creating with your local community, Gecko:engage offers an environment to take creative risks, to feel seen and be heard.

With expert facilitators and deep care, we empower people to grow, take risks and tell their stories — physically, emotionally and unapologetically.

Our Three Engagement Strands:

SCHOOLS

Supporting pupils and educators through creative, embodied learning rooted in Gecko’s distinctive devising methodology.

We offer inspiring workshops, projects and training for teachers that embed creativity, physicality and emotional exploration into the fabric of learning.

ARTISTS

Providing meaningful growth opportunities for the performers, facilitators and theatre-makers.

Through residencies, mentorship and training, we invite artists to deepen their practice, expand their craft and explore new possibilities.

COMMUNITIES

Co-creating place-based projects that respond to lived experience and explore themes of identity, belonging and migration.

We collaborate with communities to make work that is rooted in local voices and driven by social impact, using the arts to bring people together and tell stories that matter.
