Teacher CPD Workshop in Ipswich
Saturday 15th September 2018 | 10am – 4pm | Ipswich School
Join us in Ipswich for a day long continued professional development workshop with Gecko’s Associate Director Helen Baggett.
WHAT IS IT? We are running a training day for drama, dance and performing arts teachers based in Suffolk and the surrounding area, following on from our successful pilot workshops in 2017.
WHAT WILL I BE DOING? We will take teachers through our methods for creating movement, our style of physical theatre and our approaches to preparing a group or class for work. Using feedback from our pilot sessions, this workshop will also have a particular focus on Gecko’s techniques for devising from a set stimulus, linking to the new devising modules for both GCSE and A Level drama. There will also be plenty of opportunities for networking and peer sharing between the group. This workshop is open to all teachers who are interested, but will also act as a follow up to those who have participated in a Gecko workshop before.
Outline schedule for the day:
10am – 12.30pm: This session will serve as an introduction to Gecko’s style of movement/physical theatre. This will also be a refresher for those that have previously taken part in a Gecko workshop.
12.30 – 1.30pm: Lunchbreak
1.30 – 4pm: The afternoon session will focus on Gecko’s devising techniques, and in particular devising from a set stimulus.
WHAT WILL I GAIN FROM IT? An insight into Gecko’s devising process as well as tools and advice for guiding students through their devising modules to use in your own teaching practice.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Places cost £72 (including handouts and light refreshments).
HOW DO I BOOK MY PLACE? Places are on a first come first served basis. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to book a place on the workshop. As part of your email please give your name, contact information and details of which local school you work at, and whether you have attended a Gecko workshop before.
