Niamh Milligan
Producing Assistant (Creative Engagement)
Niamh Joined Gecko in 2023 and has a background in Dance and Charity Work. She was previously a Project Assistant with Sense Charity, where she supported young adults with complex needs and disabilities to engage with arts, sports and social activities in East London. In this role she was a co-creator of Thrive Mini Festival, an inclusive and accessible arts and music festival for people with disabilities and complex needs. She is passionate about combining her love for dance, theatre and accessibility to support breaking down barriers to arts and culture.
Niamh was part of Hot House Dance and the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) Scheme at The Place before going on to study an undergraduate degree with Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD). Here, she completed a placement with Dance United Yorkshire and performed works by Lea Anderson, Gary Clarke, Phil Sanger, Wayne Parsons, The Hiccup Project and Fernanda Prata. Alongside her studies she nurtured her love of creative engagement work by volunteering weekly with the NSCD Youth Dance Company and Adult Creative classes for adults with learning disabilities.
Niamh supports the delivery of Gecko’s creative engagement work including school workshops, residencies and community projects.
Outside of Gecko Niamh loves watching theatre, discovering new music, decorating and then redecorating her house and rehoming pre-loved clothing and furniture.
