The Arab and the Jew
We have seen our fathers shouting and waving their arms in the air.
We have watched from a distance and hidden from the news.
Allel Nedjari and Amit Lahav grew up on opposite sides of the Arab-Israeli divide. Here they celebrate their brotherhood and laugh and cry at their reflections. The Arab and The Jew is both a riot of sound, image and movement and an ambitious dance of reason and conciliation.
“A finely executed and not easily forgettable production indeed.” The Stage

★★★★ The Guardian
“Amit Lahav and Al Nedjari’s danse macabre bypasses politics, illuminating the Arab-Israeli relationship as scorched fragments in a sometimes ravishing display of theatrical fireworks.” Brian LoganBruce Dessau, Evening Standard
“A bleakly funny, brutally painful comedy. Imagine Newsnight performed by the Marx Brothers and script-edited by Beckett.”Donald Hutera, The Times
“Brilliantly vaudevillian two-hander with tragic underpinnings… dazzlingly unpredictable.”Rivka Jacobson, British Theatre Guide
“This is a superlative production, exhilarating in its ability to highlight without words one of the world’s most complex conflicts.”Keith Watson, Metro
“Lahav and Nedjari stick an absurdist tongue out at the craziness of prejudice … it’s hard not to be haunted by a fleeting glimpse of how the world might have been.”Emma Barnett, The Stage
“A finely executed and not easily forgettable production indeed.” -
