Capturing Our Work

As a company, capturing our work is an important part of our creative process.

It's extremely important for us to capture as much of our work as we can, especially due to the way that Amit and our devising performers devise our shows. At the end of an R&D or a residency, we usually have roughly 20/25 minutes of material. This material will be performed, and we'll film it. In the periods between our time in the studio, Amit will then go away with the recording and pick the work apart before the next R&D or residency where often 90% of the material has been scrapped.

Then, the ensemble will come back together and build another 20/25 minutes of material from the 10% that remained from last time. This process is repeated until we have a show that we’re happy with!

This applies to our shows even when they're on tour! Our Producing Assistant (Touring and Digital) brings the Gecko camera with him on tour and makes sure to film the final performance at each venue. This allows Amit to watch the performances in the auditorium and be in the moment, then he can spend time watching the capture of the final performance between venues in close detail and think about changes he'd like to make before arriving at the next stop.

It's also great for our archive, we have films of all of our shows dating back to 2001, as well as footage from each show's creation process, which makes for fascinating viewing! You can find lots of content on our YouTube channel (link in bio), including full shows, Q&As and educational resources 😍
